Basic I Welding

Course is a Mixture of Lecture - Audio Visual - Hands-On

Torch Outfits & Welding Machines are Set-Up So Everyone Has an Opportunity to Practice Techniques!

A Light Lunch & Materials Provided

 

 

Introduction to Gases

  • Origination of gases and how they are used in welding
  • Compares a variety of fuel gases and where they operate best
  • Safety and hook-up of oxy-fuel equipment
  • Oxy-fuel cutting process of severing metals
  • Soft soldering, silver brazing and braze welding
  • Where to use each process - the temperatures involved - what filler metals to use

Introduction to Stick Metal Arc (SMAW)

  • Safety and set-up of arc welding equipment
  • AC and DC Welding: Discussions - Demonstrations - Hands-On
  • Where each current is used and why
  • Welding of mild steel - stainless steel - aluminum - cast ironMaintenance & Repair Alloys - designation & uses of various AWS rods

Basic II Welding

PREREQUISITE: Basic I or the student to possess the equivalent welding training / knowledge

    FROM NEWARK/ELKTON (WEST) I-95 North to I-295 East to the last possible exit before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (Route 9). Take Route 9 (New Castle Avenue) North toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.

    FROM SMYRNA/DOVER (SOUTH) Route 13 North to I-295 just South of Wilmington. Take I-295 East toward New Jersey. Go to the last possible exit before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (Route 9). Take Route 9 (New Castle Avenue) North toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.

    FROM NEW JERSEY (EAST) Take I-295 West over the Delaware Memorial Bridge. After the toll booth take the first exit (Exit 1 - Route 9 New Castle) toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.

    FROM CHESTER/PHILADELPHIA (NORTH) Take I-95 South through Wilmington. South of Wilmington take I-295 East toward New Jersey. Go to the last possible exit before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (Route 9). Take Route 9 (New Castle Avenue) North toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.

    FROM WEST CHESTER/EXTON Take Route 202 South to I-95 South just North of Wilmington. Take I-95 through Wilmington to I-295 East toward New Jersey. Go to the last possible exit before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (Route 9). Take Route 9 (New Castle Avenue) North toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.

    FROM AVONDALE/OXFORD (WEST) Take Route 41 South to Route 141 South through Newport. Take I-295 East toward New Jersey. Go to the last possible exit before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (Route 9). Take Route 9 (New Castle Avenue) North toward Wilmington. Keen is located on the left about 1-1/2 miles.
